Cave Spring Historical Society

Providing you with historic buildings in an idyllic setting

Cave Spring is a beautiful community of nine hundred souls nestled in the foothills of Northwest Georgia. It has one traffic light and only one. There are 85 buildings on the historic register. In 1973 the Cave Spring Historical Society decided to save three important buildings in Rolator Park. The buildings were rapidly deteriorating and in a sad state of disrepair. With the aid of some small Federal Grants and the sweat equity of several Ceta workers the reclamation process began.

Another small group of local artist began using the Hearn Academy in the part as the nexus for their endeavors. Out of this beginning grew the "Cave Spring Art Festival" held every June for the past 35 years. The proceeds from this event have raised several hundred thousand dollars which coupled with untold thousands of hours of volunteer labor has restored these buildings to their former majesty.

The park is in the middle of our quaint downtown and features the Cave (open at select times), the bountiful spring, a clear water stream, small pond and giant swimming pool. There is plenty of parking and pavilions to make your visit pleasant and enjoyable.

If you are looking for tranquility, history and special events in elegant, old buildings then we are the place for you.

A small town with a big heart

It is hard to imagine how the whole town has come together to preserve and celebrate the buildings and environment that it was lucky enough to inherit. Black and white, young and old, deaf and hearing have worked shoulder to shoulder for a long time to keep this town as pristine as possible but still provide useful facilities and an ambience that is the envy of many.
